Rose, as she was called, was the second child of seven children born to Gustavus George Reiniger and Eliza Aimsworth Meacham. Some say Rose's mother was a Rosa Durr. Rosalie married John David Willson. They had three children:

Dixie Lucille Reiniger Maurine Willson John Cedric Reiniger Willson Robert Reiniger Meredith Willson ("The Music Man")

Rosalie, a piano teacher, gathered the family around the piano every evening to sing favorite songs.
