Rose Cross, [Convict "Neptune" 1790]

ROSE FLOOD (aka Flud) was born in England about 1762.

Rose was convicted in 1789 at the Old Bailey for stealing an apron and tablecloth and received a 7 year sentence. She was transported on the "Neptune" arriving in June 1790.

Charles Cross and Rose Flood married at Rose Hill (now Parramatta) on the 21st November 1790. They had 6 children;

• 1791 Sarah.
• 1793 Mary Ann;
• 1795 Susannah;
• 1799 Edward ;
• 1801 Christopher;
• 1805 Elizabeth;

Charles became a farmer in the Windsor (NSW) district and at times had large acreages of land at Wilberforce and Cattai. In 1831 Cross, described as a resident of Lower Pitt Town, was granted 50 acres on Little Cattai Creek known as Wheeny Farm. His sons Christopher and Edward were also each granted 50 acres adjoining their father's grant.

Charles Cross died on 13 October 1835. Rose died on 4 November 1836. They are buried in adjoining plots at St Johns Cemetery, Wilberforce NSW.

Rose Flood age 34 convict second fleet arrived at Sydney Cove 1790 on the "Neptune" Trial at the Old Bailey 1787 sentenced to 7 years. Crime - Stealing a tablecloth & a blue apron form her employer then was found trying to sell the items at a nearby pawn broker who knew the owner & recognized the tablecloth & apron. Rose married Charles Cross at the Church of England Parramatta.
