HAYWARD -- HARVEY
A pretty wedding was solemnised this morning at the residence of the bride's parents, when Mr. Harold Hayward, of the well known athletic Hayward brothers, and fourth son,of Mr. F.H. Hayward, of Auckland, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Miss Rose Harvey, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs James Harvey, Hape Creek. The Rev. A.T. Thompson officiated .
The bride who was given away by her father looked charming in cream spotted voile with transparent yoke of fibre lace bordered with epauletted capes fancifully edged with satin rushing, and festooned with handsome silk applique motifs, the same effect being continued on the skirt. She wore a daintily embroidered tulle veil arranged over the orthodox wreath of orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet of choice flowers.
The bridesmaid was Miss Nellie Harvey, attired in a dainty dress of white silk with valenciennes lace yoke and berthe of silk and insertion, and flounced skirt finished with medallion trimming. Mr. Cecil Hayward acted as best man. The bridegroom presented the bride with a handsome muff chain, the bridesmaid receiving a gold brooch, while the presents received by the young couple were useful and numerous. after the ceremony the guests were entertained at a sumptuous wedding breakfast by the bride's parents, where the customary toasts were duly honoured. the bride's travelling dress was a stylish sage green crimpoline , the skirt being panelled with wide bands of applique, and the bodice trimmed with lace and berthe of the material with vandyked ruchings of satin ribbon. Her black hpicture hat was trimmed with chiffon and ostrich plumes and turned up with a cluster of scarlet roses.
The mother of the bride wore a smart slate grey gown effectively trimmed with handsome insertion and cream satin.
The newly married couple left via Kopu for Auckland en route to the Hot Lakes District for their honeymoon.
Rose was mentioned by Ivy S. in our family memoirs briefly.
The only one whom Ivy came into contact with, was Rose, described as a fine and lovely woman. This being, as most of the relations by this time ,lived in Auckland. The writer had also met Will, and Jessie (Eunice Jessie), a couple of times, and they also were very very nice people.
