"MRS. STRAUSS, 83, DIES HERE / Mrs. Leon Strauss, 83, of 4814 Woodland ave., member of a pioneer Des Moines family, died of a stroke Friday at the Grayson Nursing Home, 1725 Sixth ave. She had been ill a year. / Mrs. Strauss came to Des Moines in 1882 when her father, Abraham Sheuerman, and his brother, Leopold, moved their woolen mills here from Marengo. She was born in Marengo. / ... / .../ Private services will be at 2:30 p. m. Sunday at Dunn's Funeral Home. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery after cremation. / She is survived by her husband; a son, Bertram, Washington D. C.; a sister, Millie Ehrlich, Hotel Commodore; and a brother, Lee A.
