About Rosina Sendelbach
Mrs. Michael Sendelbach Died October 3, 1913
Rosina Sendelbach, nee Neth, was born in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany, April 18th, 1833 and in 1842 came to America with her parents who located in Harrison County, Indiana, remaining there about 15 years when they came to Waumandee, in this county, where she was married to Michael Sendelbach in 1857. They opened (operated?) a farm and by dint of industry and frugality built up a comfortable home, remaining there until advance age compelled them to retire. They then bought a house in Waumandee village where they lived until last year when they again returned to the old homestead now occupied by their son, Anton, where Mr. Sendelbach died June 18 last, his faithful wife following him to the beyond, October 3rd. Their reclining days were made as comfortable as possible for them by their children who thus attempted to repay, in part, what their parents had done for them. Deceased was laid to rest in the cemetery of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Monday, October 6, Rev. P. F. Weber conducting the obsequies and a large concourse of friends paying a last tribute to her memory.
We cannot close this sketch without referring to a most beautiful trait of character in this most excellent woman, namely her earnest devotion to those near and dear to her. When a malignant disease bereft her baby boy of both his sight and sense of hearing she took upon herself the task of caring for him, bearing this affliction without a protest or a murmur, and when he grew to manhood in size but a babe in intellect, his parents cared for him for over thirty long years and remained faithful to their trust until they too became helpless. Such devotion and self-sacrifice certainly entitles these splendid people to a place on the roll of honor and we cheerfully contribute our mite in paying a fit tribute to the memory of a faithful mother. Besides being a devoted and indulgent wife and mother, Mrs. Sendelbach was a woman of a kindly generous disposition, doing her duty as she saw it, and never knowingly wronging anyone. She was a devoted and devout Christian and lived accordingly.
She is survived by four sons and one daughter. The former are Joseph of Elreno, Okla., Anton and Valentine, of Waumandee, and Michael, of La Crosse, while the daughter is Mrs. William Theisen, of Wadena, Minnesota.
