Ross Pringle entered the service of his country on Aug. 25, 1941, at the age of 25. He was transported on the USS President Cleveland, and arrived in October 1941 at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, where he joined the 91st Chemical Mortar Company, some 15 miles away from Pearl Harbor. He was stationed there on December 7, 1941.
In addition to surviving Pearl Harbor, he was involved in the Marshall Islands attack during February 1944, where he was wounded in the leg by shrapnel on the island of Kwajale.
He received a Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Service Ribbon and the American Defense Service medal/bronze star. He left the service on Sept. 3, 1945.

Ross Lee Pringle, 90, Marshfield, passed away August 9, 2007, in Webco Manor Nursing Home, Marshfield. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2007, in Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening, Sunday, in the funeral home.
