Rosswell Graves Jr. went with his parents, Rosswell Sr. and Lois Coe Graves from Durham, CN to Bedford (later Granville) MA. about 1760. He served in the Revolutionary War in Capt. William Cooley's Company. He lived in East Granville, and was admitted to the church Dec. 1, 1796, his wife on Jan. 20, 1799. Roswell Graves Jr., in Bedford, MA (now Granville), with his brother Enoch, were active in organizing The Licking Company "to view and purchase for a new settlement", lands in Licking Co.,(later Granville) Ohio, on Nov. 2, 1805, where they both settled and both died. Each had paid $10.00 to become members in Aug. 1, 1804. (The village became officially known as Granville, OH, on Aug. 7, 1806.) In 1808 he was elected one of two Grand Jurors of the township.. On July 4, 1840 he headed an Independence Day parade with Stephen Goodrich, from Granville, OH to Newark, OH, "walking the entire distance".
