Rouland "Rowland" Thornbugh

"This Rowland Thornborough should not be confused or merged with Rowland Thornburgh born about 1620 in Lancashire to William and Catherine Langtree Thornburgh, or with Rowland Thornburgh born about 1610 to Rowland Thornburg and Jane Dalton.

The parentage of Rowland Thornborough is not known. He was previously attached as a son to Thomas Thornborough and his wife Alice Lane, immigrants to Virginia, however none of the sources cited to show this have evidence of the connection. Furthermore, while Rowland is said to have been born in 1629 in Hampfield Hall, Cartmel, Lancaster, Thomas Thornborough was at this time in Virginia. Accordingly, Rowland has been detached from these parents.

In his Will, proved 1696, he names himself as kinsman of the Thornborough family of Hampsfield Hall, so that this birthplace is a reasonable assumption. It is notable that, while selecting residuary legatees in the event of his own sons not living to inherit, he makes no mention in his Will of the living sons of Thomas Thornborough of Virginia, who would have been his brothers and thus his next of kin if his father had been Thomas. Currently, research has not discovered his parentage."

Ann Dicconson may have been born in Maryland. Her parentage is unknown.
