About Roy Seger Peterson
Tilbake på slutten av 1970 talet var Roy og broren Melvin tilbake på farsgården Opsal, Syvde i Møre og Romsdal. Roy arbeidet som selger for flyfabrikken Boeing i USA. Han hadde den sommeren vore over til Europa og hala i land ei eller fleire salgskontrakter med europeiske flyselskap. Og når han fyrst var i Europa valgde han og broren å besøke Opsal og slekta. Historia fortel at med seg i kofferten hadde han med seg alle dei signerte salgskontraktene. Kontrakter verdt store verdier, kanskje milliarder. Verken før eller seinare har sånne verdier vore på garden Opsal, eller neppe nokon annan stad i Syvde heller for den saks skuld. Det var eit stort besøk på mange måtar. Sjøl huskar eg dette besøket, der omtrent heile slekta var møtt opp.

Roy S. Peterson Roy S. Peterson, a longtime resident of Issaquah, passed away at the age of 85 on September 10, 2012 at Aegis of Issaquah. Roy was born on July 30, 1927 in Bellingham, Washington, the son of John and Amanda Peterson. He was raised in Bellingham where he graduated from Meridian High School and Western Washington University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and played football at WWU. On July 8, 1949 he married Lois Gene Reyman in Bellingham. They moved to Issaquah in 1952 and spent 53 years together. Roy coached football and taught for five years in the Issaquah School District. He served as a board member for Bellevue Community College and Overlake Hospital. Roy was also a respected member of the Issaquah City Council for over 12 years. He retired after 30 years from the Boeing Company in 1986. He later married Connie Miller of Lake Stevens in February of 2003 who predeceased him last year. Roy was a proud member of the Lake Sammamish Elks, Issaquah Eagles, Vasa Lodge, Myrtle Lodge #108 F & AM, and the American Legion Post 161 of Redmond. In later years, he served as a docent for the Issaquah Museum and volunteered with the Issaquah Visitors Center. Survivors include children Roy & Debbie Peterson of Federal Way, John & Sheila Peterson of Renton, daughter Linda Sturza, of Camano Island, and step-daughter Linda (& Gary) Johnson of Bellingham. Eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson also survive Roy. A Funeral service will be held 11 a.m, Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Flintofts Issaquah Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lower Hillside Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Lake Sammamish Elks on Rainier Boulevard North in Issaquah (across the street west of the Darigold plant). Friends are invited attend the services and reception.
