Augustus Mumford "was killed by a cannon ball at Plowed Hill, at or near Cambridge, or Mystick, Mass., August 27, 1775. He had been one of the petitioners for the incorporation of the Kentish Guards in 1774. (Elder John Gorton and the Six Principle Baptist Church of East Greenwich Bamberg, 2001)
