About Ruth Marie Salo
Ruth M. Salo, 93, went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2009, in Hancock, MI.
The former Ruth Juntunen was born on August 1, 1915, in Atlantic Mine, and attended the Doelle School. On July 16, 1939, she married Wilbert Salo, who has predeceased her.
She moved to the Detroit area where she raised her family. She was employed by Sears and Standard Oil.
Ruth Salo was survived by her son, Donald Salo of Chassell, MI, and her daughter Lois Stierna of Melbourne, FL, brothers Gilbert Juntunen of Chassell, MI and Royce Juntunen of Indian River, MI, sister Lea Meekins of Kentwood, MI. She had six grandchildren Jaysen Salo, Jennifer Marshall, Michelle Haddad, Pamela Pare', Paula Whitty and David Stierna. Also she had eight great grandchildren, Christopher, Scott, Zachareah, Matthew, Olivia, Holly, Colby and Jacqueline.
While living in Detroit, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In her retirement years, she lived in Melbourne, FL, where she was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, participating in quilt making.
Funeral: Mission United Lutheran Church of Pelkie.
Burial in the Elo Cemetery.
