About Sándor Zerkowitz
Alexander Zerkowitz bore the Hebrew name of "Nesanel". He was named in honor of his paternal grandfather, Nesanel (Samuel) Kohn-Zerkowitz (1783-1847) of Trencin City. Alexander and his older brother Philip left Trencin City as young men and went to Budapest. Both are seen living there by 1883. In 1894, "Sandor Czerkowicz" was a merchant in the 2nd district of Budapest. In the Budapest City Directory, 1904-1905, Alexander is listed as follows: "CZERKOVICS, SANDOR, kereskedo, II, Toldy-Ferencz-u. 16". He and his family are buried in Farkasret Cemetery in Budapest. Alexander's Hebrew name was "Nesanel", and he was named in honor of his paternal grandfather, Nesanel Kohn-Zerkowitz (1783-1847). Alexander was sometimes known by the nickname "Seso".
