Of the crew of the Arizona 289 men survived. The ship sunk on the main water line and the firefighters had to use the water from a nearby swimming pool. Those that survived and were aboard the ship and their wives later were given the opportunity to be buried with their companions upon death, as well all those wives of the service men who perished. There was a crew of 1,553 men.
The USS Utah was hit 8 minutes before the USS Arizona which was hit at 0810 A.M.
