A native of Supply, NC, he was the eldest of nine children born to Robert and Janie Simmons Phelps. Mr. Phelps was a WWII US Navy Veteran and retired from the US Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point, in 1971 after thirty-two years of federal Civil Service. Albert's passion for and dedication to the art of beekeeping and honey production won him many friends and loyal customers. He attained the designation Master Beekeeper before his retirement from beekeeping.
