Curtis Shunkwiler was born March 24, 1931 in Fairfield, NE to Wesley & Alvera Shunkwiler, the 2nd of 8 children. Curtis passed away peacefully at home on Wed., June 9, 2010 at the age of 79. Curtis was married for 58 years to Lena Dell (Cronk) Shunkwiler. Curtis served in the US Air Force and from there he was Superintendent of Construction for OTASCO Stores. Curtis loved to hunt & fish. Curtis is survived by his wife, Lena Dell Shunkwiler of the home; 3 children, Curtis Allan (Paula), Glendon Neil & Pamela Jane Hansen (Trey). He leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Neilan Shunkwiler, Nikki Hansen and Cody Hansen; 2 great grandchildren, Aydan & Arlynn Smith; 2 step-grandchildren, Rachel & Christie; 3 step-great grandchildren, Haylee, Braden, & Kaylee; 5 brothers & 2 sisters; numerous nieces & nephews. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents & 1 grandson, Seth Hansen. Viewing at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S. Western, will be from 4-8 PM Friday. Services to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the South Colonial Chapel.
