About SSgt. Donald Leigh Solt

Donald Leigh Solt, 85, of Allentown, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, in his home, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Catherine Louise (Schrieber) Heiser-Solt. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Erwin W.E. and Alice Irene (Fink) Solt, Sr. and was a 1947 graduate of Allentown High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. Donald was a member of St. Michael Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Nativity and member of the former St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. In 1959, he received his Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. Prior to retiring in 1989, he was employed as a Coordinator - Underground Distribution for PP&L Corporation. Previously, he held numerous positions including Chief and First Class Lineman. In the same year, Donald earned his Real Estate License. From 2001-2006, he was the Director of the Union and West End Cemetery Association. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a past president of the Lehigh Valley High Twelve Club, held several offices in the Jordan-Martin Lodge No. 673, including Worshipful Master, was a member of Lehigh Consistory, Knights Templar Allen Beauceant No. 20, Valley of Allentown, A.A.S.R., a 25 year member of Council R. & S.M. No. 23, Knight of the Red Cross of Constantine, Rajah Shriners, and life member of 673 Club.

Survivors: wife; son, Lee Nelson Solt and wife, Betsy (Pastor), Allentown; grandson, Anthony Pastor Solt; sister-in-law, Nancy F. Solt; nephews; niece. Brother, Erwin E.W. "Mooney" Solt, Jr., sister, Joyce L. Watt, and brother-in-law, William J. Watt, preceded him in death.

Services: Wednesday in Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 1335-37 W. Linden St. Allentown. Call 9:00 - 10:30 AM. Services, including Masonic, will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
