Ezra Thurston Dunn, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away on May 9, 2000. He was 86.

Ez was born Sept. 3, 1913, in Georgetown, Idaho, to Noah Brady Dunn and Abigail Eliza Tippetts Dunn.

Educated in Montpelier, Idaho, and Logan City schools, he graduated from Logan High School in 1932. In 1940, he joined the Army Air Corps, and served during Word War II in California, Arizona and Texas until the end of the war. He was honorably discharged in October, 1945.

He was married to Leora Mikkelsen of Smithfield on May 5, 1942, in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on May 5, 1960.

Ez worked for Sears-Roebuck in many different positions in that store. He retired from Sears in 1972. He was also a fry cook at Chambers Cafe for a number of years.

He will be remembered by family and friends as a gentle gentleman. Never complaining, always diligent, he was always willing to help family, friends and ward members in any capacity.

Ez and Leora were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Ez served in the Logan 20th Ward until the time of his death.

An athlete and sportsman, he loved baseball and basketball and through many years played on various teams. He was an avid fisherman and game hunter and was known as one of the best fly-fishermen in the valley.

He is survived by his wife, Leora; daughters, Nancy Dunn Blackburn and Diane Abigail Dunn; three grandchildren, Sean Dunn (Angie) Blackburn, Garth Dustin (Jennifer) Blackburn and Laurette LuRay Dunn; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Reed T. (Faye) Dunn, John A. (Bertha) Dunn and sister, Birdean Thompson; many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Jean M. Bench.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lewis Dunn, and sisters Edra Dunn Myler and Wyoma Dunn Eames, and two infant sisters.
