About “Sakinney”, daughter of Ostenaco
As his memoirs attest, Timberlake endured many hardships & difficulties during his brief period of public service. He died embittered & impoverished on September 30, 1765. His wife had been a teenager when they married only two years before. In 1786-87, his widow now using the name Helen Theresa Timberlake Ostenaco, petitioned the government for assistance in securing passage to North America, citing her late husband's service to the crown. Her petition was supported by Lord Amherst & others.

Stine, a Cherokee Nation citizen, said the book about his grandfather’s memoirs mentions the son-in-law of Chief Ostenaco. The son-in-law mentioned was likely Lt. Timberlake, who married Ostenaco’s daughter Sageni.
Henry and Sageni were the parents of Richard Timberlake, who continued the Timberlake lineage after his father died in England on Sept. 30, 1765, after attempting to help a Cherokee delegation get an audience with King George III to discuss white settlers on Cherokee land.
