Sallie Ann was the daughter of Leonard "Leon" and Louise Cummings Locklear. She married James B. Oxendine on Mar. 2, 1889 in the Burnt Swamp section of Robeson county, North Carolina.

The following was taken from the Apr. 1, 1929 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Mrs. J. B. Oxendine, aged 50, died Sunday p.m. at her home in the Mt. Airy section, near Buie. A stroke of paralysis suffered 2 weeks before was the cause of her death. Funeral services will be conducted at Mt. Airy Baptist church Tuesday at 11 a.m. by Rev. L. W. Jacobs. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.

Deceased is survived by her husband, prominent Indian of that section; 5 sons--David J., Conley, Thornton, Norman, Britton, Adie, all of the same community; 2 brothers--King and Cagale Locklear of the Mt. Airy community; one sister--Jerusha Locklear of the same section.
