The first death in the New World for the Zimmermant/Carpenter family was Heinrich's eldest daughter. Salome Zimmerman was born in 1711 in Germantown, Phildadelphia County, Pennsylvania, the first American-born member of the family. She adopted the surname Carpenter when the family was naturalized. She married John Wistar of Germantown in 1731 and they made their home in Germantown. She died at the age of 25, in 1736, leaving behind her husband and one daughter, also named Salome.
