Salomon Blitzer und seine Frau kamen schon Anfang 1900 nach Halberstadt, wahrscheinlich aus Polen. Kinder: Max; Isaak; Marie (Jahrgang 1897); Mathilde (Jahrgang 1902); Rolf; Willi; und Gisela, geboren 1912. Salomon Blitzer war Lederhandschuhmacher bei der Handschuhfabrik Lasch. Seine Frau handelte von der Familienwohnung aus mit Bettwäsche, Strickwolle u.ä.Die Eltern und, soviel ich weiß, zwei Brüder wurden 1938 nach Polen verschleppt und dort ermordert. Die anderen Kinder konnten sich in die USA retten. Isaak Blitzer nannte sich dort Jack, Gisela hatte noch in Deutschland geheiratet und lebt heute als Giselle Matzner in New York. Sie war aus Anlaß eines von der Stadt zum Teil finanzierten Besuches 1999 in Halberstadt und hat hier, auch der Presse, ausführlich Auskunft über ihre Kinderzeit hier gegeben, die alle in diesem Projekt verarbeitet sind. Salomon Blitzer was born in Lanzut, Poland in 1863 to Meir and Reisel. He was a textile storekeeper and married to Amalie nee Rimler. Prior to WWII he lived in Halberstadt, Germany. During the war he was in Będzin, Poland.
