About Salvador Escudero Sr.
Salvador Escudero Sr. is a Filipino politician.
Governor Salvador Escudero Sr. - fondly called by the people of Sorsogon as “Gurang” (The Old Man). was one of the few Filipino local civil officials who refused to submit to Japanese rule during the Japanese occupation of the country and, instead organized a guerilla force to resist the invading Japanese Army, while at the same time, continuing with his governance of the province “in the Field”. One of the 6 children of Manuel Escudero, Sr. and Maria Casals, of Casiguran Sorsogon. Finished his Bachelor of Arts degree at the San Juan de Letran College in Manila. Elected as Municipal councilor of Casiguran and subsequently elected to the position of Alcalde Municipal in 1926 – 1931 and again as Presidente Municipal in 1938 to 1940. In 1946 he was appointed Provincial Governor by President Manuel Roxas elected to the same position 1948 to 1951 then, again from 1952 to 1955.
