(becky sacks:) Sam Rubin lived in Luxembourg, having separated from the family after the first World War. There he married Elise.

(hymie rubin, July 2010): Sam was imprisoned in Luxemburg in WW1, and was saved by a high ranking prison warden - and he later married his daughter, Elise.

Granny was sent to become a seamstress in WIZO Max and Jack were in a orphanage. Granny was orphaned at the age of 10 and married my Dad at 17 when they immigrated to SA. He had been called up to the Lithuanian army from which few Jews survived.
