Samsuri

The real (as per IC) name of Tok We is Shamsuddin. Was made to understand that his original name was Shamsuri. Thus Tok We is Shamsuddin @ Shamsuri. His father is NOT Hj. Ali (as posted in Geni - pls amend the data). Tok We's father is Hj Noor. Tok We's grand father is Hj Karim. Tok We was born in Singapura some 85 years ago. Then he followed his mother (arwah Embah) to Pahang (Kg. Jawa/Sg. Lembing, etc). At the age of 18 or 19, Tok We was taken by tentera Jepun untuk dijadikan buruh paksa untuk membina jambatan di sempadan Thailand/Burma. (By that time, Tok We's familiy members considered him dead since there was no news after that for quite some time). ALhamdullillah, due to his good behaviour/luck/qada' & qadar, good cook, etc ... he was appointed as the Chef for the Japanese army. After serving the Camp for some time, the thought of 'escape' did cross his mind. As a chef, he used the opportunity to 'poison'/'doze off' the guard and he headed off to the Siam's jungle. He spent some 12 years in the jungle, surviving by carrying out odd jobs. He managed to speak & write Siamese language fluently.

Since then, he got in touch with his family back in Pahang by using a secret symbol (tandatangan berbentuk burung merpati - which was only recognised by few such as Tok Mat @ Hj Hassan). Then only these people knew that Tok We was still alive. In order to get out from Siam to cross to Malaya, To We need to have some form of documents (eg. IC). When he was in Siam, he used to work with Mak's brother. The deal was on, soon after they got married and able to have IC, then decided to settle down in Kelantan. The rest was history.....
