About Samuel James Adair
Parents unverified.
First records show him in Rockbridge County, VA in 1783. Other tax/land records in 1787 show that there was a James Jr there as well. More tax records show that Samuel Adair remained there until 1811, when he and his family moved to Highland County, Ohio.
16 Oct 1811, Samuel signed a document concerning the will of James Adair Jr, who died in Licking County as the family was traveling to Highland County. It's likely that the Buntain family was with them, and Samuel's son, Hugh, married Martha Buntain in Sept of 1812, in Highland County, Ohio.
Samuel was given legal authority for Isabella Jane Adair and her children, to sell the land that James Adair Jr had owned in Rockbridge County, VA.
The implication is that James Adair Jr was either Samuel's father, or a close relation.
Children are listed in "History of Clinton County Ohio" by Albert J Brown. Samuel's marriage to Sarah Goodman is verified in Virginia History Marriage Register.
Not a known child of James Adair of Bladen County
