notes

NOTE: In The American Genealogist of January 1981, Volume 57, page 105-107, the antecedents of Samuel Bacon are limited to his parents, William and Ane (last name at birth Unknown). Martha Worcester is disproved as wife of William Bacon. In Colonial Families of Philadelphia and in Bacon's Adventure, the English branch of the pedigree was quoted from the work of Gustav Anjou of New York, whose work has been thoroughly discredited. Those works have been widely reproduced and cannot be relied upon for the ancestry of Samuel Bacon. The New England branches of those biographies were not tainted - just the part that quoted Anjou.
