A Patriot of the American Revolution for CONNECTICUT with the rank of CORPORAL. DAR Ancestor # A008215

Defender of Fort Griswold, taken prisoner.

"Samuel Beaumont is reported by a family tradition, which presents every appearance of authenticity, as one of five brothers of Lebanon, all of whom were soldiers in the Revolutionary army, and one of the defenders of Fort Griswold, taken a prisoner to New York, from whence he returned when exchanged. He was born in 1755, and died in 1814. He was represented at the Centennial by his grand nephew Dr. Leonard Bacon of New Haven" source: The Battle of Groton Heights: A Collection of Narratives, Official Reports ...By William Wallace Harris, p. 290
