Samuel Beer died in Holesov on 28 Jun 1897, “age 77”. His death notice, published in Vienna papers, names – as his survivors – his sons Lion Beer and David Beer; his daughters, Johanna Beer, Netti Beer, Hermine Abeles, Nina Schon [*error for Mina Schon], Paula Platschik, Regina Abeles, and Ernestine Ornstein; sons-in-law, Heinrich Beer, Max Beer, director, Leopold Schon, Simon Platschik, Ludwig Abeles, and Sigmund Ornstein; and his daughters-in-law, Mathilde Beer geb. Tauber and Ernestine Beer geb. Zwillinger.

He is buried in Holesov next to the grave of his son Lazar. Gravestones still standing —dates are illegible. His age, however, is visible, and it is given as 76.

He was m. to Rachel [Rosel] [%E2%80%9CRosa%E2%80%9D] Deutsch, b. household #4, 24 Dec 1832, dau of Lazar and Paulina (Haas) Deutsch. She was deceased by 1897 – not named in her husband’s obituary. Her gravestone stands next to that of her husband’s in Holesov, but the dates are illegible.
