About Samuel Solomon Bozeman

Samuel Solomon Bozeman was born in 1854, in Webster County Ga., about 3 miles N. of present day Parrott,Ga. The son of a Primative Baptist Preacher/cotton farmer. His mother (Julia Ann Hill) died of breast cancer, when he was 7, and his father (Luke Bozeman, Jr.) died when he was 14.

He moved to Milam Co., Texas in 1871, aged 17, with older brother Benjamin Luke Bozeman. Married Rebecca Agnes Fuller in 1877. Removed to Bell, Coleman and Callahan Co's. from 1879 to 1895.

Sponsered by the church of Christ in Clyde, Texas, Sam Bozeman became missionary for the church of Christ in Indian Territory in 1895. Started churches of Christ in Altus, Oklahoma and several congregations across the "Oklahoma Lane" section of Texas Panhandle in early 1900's, and as far west as Portales and Melrose, NM. Sam Bozeman was instrumental in the start of what is now Tipton Children's Home in Tipton, Oklahoma.

While preaching a gospel meeting in Cameron, Texas, Sam Bozeman died of a heart attack, less than three weeks after the death of his beloved wife of 55 years.

The informant for his Death Certificate was Clara Love, his niece, the daughter of his older brother (Benjamin Luke Bozeman), with whom he came to Texas in 1871.

Though he lived to 1932, Sam Bozeman never owned a car. Relying on trains, buses, and 'thumb', to get him where he needed to be, to preach God's word.
