About Samuel Marthy Fulton

Samuel had ten children with first wife, Nancy Redman. After her death, he remarried the much younger Martha Hill. They had at least three more children together. Prior to the Civil War, Samuel was a wealthy farmer, with land and enslaved people working the tobacco crops. He voted with the Whig political party, and even May have given supplies to the Confederate army. After the war, he went bankrupt and downsized to a much smaller farm. He died in 1872, in Meadows, NC, having lived a long life of 80 years.
