Samuel King was a son of William Kinge and Judith Cogan, born in England in 1618. His date of birth was estimated from the record of his purchase on 24 September 1639 of 22 acres of land at High Cliff, Plymouth Colony; he must have been at least 21 years old in order to purchase land.[1] He is identified as Samuel Kinge, son of Wiilliam Kinge, who was baptized on 30 December 1618 at Taunton St Mary, Somerset, England. [2]
He immigrated to Plymouth, Massachusetts, with his mother and her second husband, Giles Rickard, probably in 1637,[3] on the Speedwell out of Weymouth, Dorset, England.[4]
He married Anne Finney. Four children were born to their marriage:[1]
Joseph King, born 1647/8 in Plymouth.
Samuel King, born 29 August 1649 in Plymouth
Isaac King, born 24 August 1651.
Hannah King, born about 1653
Death
Samuel King died in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in August 1705. [5][6]
Boston vital records include the death of a Samuel King on 11 March 1698.[citation needed] This is sometimes inferred to be this Samuel King, but the Samuel who resided in Plymouth is unlikely to appear in Boston records and is far more likely to be the same Samuel who died in Plymouth in 1705.
