BJL Research Note #01 about the Locklear History on Long Swamp BJL
Research from 1982-1983...I was living in Maxton,NC near Campbell Soup plant & doing family research with Cathy Amaral/Locklear Family & Mae Locklear/Goins Family This is a partial copy of page one of four pages. I rec'd this in1983 from Cathy Amaral from Blue Springs Township in Hoke County, NC along Lumber River near Wagram, Scotland County, NC. Cathy is a desendant of Zackariah Locklear his son: Martine Locklear & his wife Arrie Locklear living in Hoke County. Martine Locklear & Preston Locklear the husband of Emmaline Lowry living in Robeson County are brothers. This part of the written record verified the early desendants of John Locklear: History of the Locklear's on Long Swamp In Smith's Township of Rt 3, Maxton, NC "John Locklear father of Robert, Jacob, William and Joseph. Joseph Locklear was the father of Jim, Mary (a foster child), and Samuel (Big Sam). Samuel was born 1775 and had two sons who were hanged. He was the father of Zackariah Locklear who was born in 1815 and died in June 27, 1882. He was buried in the Hammie Bullard cemetery. A tombstone is there to verify this information."
