Samuel Lorenz

Birth name was Siegmund.

am and Josephine were married May 26, 1901 in St Alphonsus. The couple settled in Perry Township and farmed until 1919 when a fire destroyed their home. They then purchased the Johnson farm in Elgin Township fra the father of O.S. Johnson. They continued to live there and farm with their children.

All the children attended St Alphonsus. The Lorenzes retired in 1941 and moved into Langdon. Edward H. took over the farm.

Sam and Jospehine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows in 1951. They were attended by Joseph Lorenz and Mrs John (Eva Kelner) Lorenz, who had been their attendents. All of the immediate family and spouses attended except Shirley. Sam and Josephine were active members of St. Alphonsus. Sam was supervisor of Elgin Township and served as director of the Federal Land Bank and Farmers Union. At the time of their deaths in 1964 they had been married 63 years. Josephine was the last living member of the Jacob Kram family hwen she died July 12, 1964 at the Langdon hospital where she had been a patient for 2.5 years. Sam died Feb 14, 1964 at the Pemblier Nursing Center in Walhalla, where he had been a resident for about 6 months.
