Samuel Lupton, Sr.

. Samuel Lupton was born in Frederick County on June 22, 1746, and died in 1829. Samuel married Sarah Smith, daughter of James and Mary (Capon) Smith Sr., of Hampshire County, Va., June 18, 1772. Samuel inherited his father's farm on Upper Apple Pie Ridge. After Samuel's death, the farm was inherited by his daughter, Rachel Lupton, who married John Bond. Their brick house still stands on the west side of Apple Pie Ridge Road (Route 739) near Gold's Hill, on the original land granted to Rachel's grandfather, William Lupton.
