About Samuel M Kemble

From Kemble Stout's book:

Samuel's father died in 1680 in London and Hannah Kemble, the widow, came to America bringing her four sons. On 7 Nov 1693 Samuel bought 300 acres in Burlington County, NJ. His first wife and the mother of some if not all his children, apparently died before 8 Oct 1697. It was on that date that Samuel's mother, by then Hannah Scott, wrote her will which included Thomas, son of Samuel, as beneficiary. Yet she also mentioned a legacy of "all her fine wearing linen" to Mary Hill if she married her son Samuel. No record of any such marriage has been found. At the time of his death in March 1728/9, Samuel lived in Burlington Township, on a "farm and plantation" on the road between Burlington and Mt. Holly, about two miles from Rancocas Creek. In the few records of him that exist in America, his surname is spelled Kimball. However Samuel signed his own will using the correct spelling for the family name.
