About Samuel Laird of Guffolkland McCall

- Geni complains about "unknown titles" in just about every Scottish branch. they are explained here. I don't know where to take them for further desired action.

- Country of death correction. This maybe just a nit, but the first Union was signed 1707 to join Scotland into United Kingdom. Therefore it is incorrect to place Samuel's death in United Kingdom, unless his death year is two years too early. For now it should be "Sanquhar, Dumfries and Galloway, Kingdom of Scotland."

- of Kelloch-side

taken from Hardy-Bertram McCall's Memoirs of My Ancestors 1884.

"Samuel McCall, who was the first farmer of the name in Kelloch-side, is most probably the same Samuel who is mentioned a sson of the preceding John McCall of Guffockland. Kelloch-side (now Kello-side) is a neighbouring farm to Guffockland, in the same parish of Kirkconnel, and situated, as its name implies, on the banks or by the side of the Kelloch or Kello-water, a tributary of the river Nith. The old farm house which stood beside the stream is now in ruins, and its site is occupied by a large dairy, the modern building being at the end of the farm nearest to the villiage of Kirkconnell from which it is about a mile distant. Samuel McCall was succeeded as a tenant in Kello-side by his son."
