Known as Samuel Morrow, Jr. in Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the Revolution, page 705 (online at Ancestry.com) and in abbreviated form at SC Military Patriots
His Irish parents moved to Chester District when he was five years of age. Later, they resided in Spartanburg District. He enlisted in the Sixth Regiment on 8 April 1776 under Capt. Robert Patton and Col.. John Winn and was in the battle at Fort Moultrie. He was discharged on 1 June 1777. In the spring of 1779 he enlisted as a corporal under Captain Philip Walker and Col. Winn and was in a skirmish at Coosawhatchie Bridge. He re-enlisted during early June 1780 and served as a private under Capts. Benjamin Roebuck, James McClure, John Mills and Cols. Thomas and Lacey. He was in the battles at Rocky Mount, Hanging Rock, and Kings Mountain. During 1782 he served three weeks at Lacey's Blockhouse.
The parents of Samuel Morrow, Jr. (1760-1842, aka Major Samuel Morrow) were "David Morrow b. c1715- c1795 & wife Mary Morrow [who] left the Baltimore area in early 1760's moving to the Fishing Creek area in present day Chester Co SC where in 1765 David obtained a 100ac land grant next to his brother "Old Samuel Morrow d.1796 SC. Family lore is that David Morrow fought at Braddock's Defeat in 1755....An 1821 deed [shows] where Major Samuel Morrow 1760-1842 was actually a nephew of Old Samuel rather than a son." -- from Morrow boards at Ancestry.com, Bill Morrow, family researcher involved with their DNA project. "The entire David & Mary Morrow family above are listed on page 130 in Rev John Simpson's "Visitation Journal" 16 Jan 1775 living in the Fishing Creek [SC] area. Rev John Simpson was pastor of the Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church located near the York/Chester county line." {Note that Samuel Morrow states, below, that he "Joined the fishing-Creek Church under the care of the Revd John Simson in the fall of 1782" after his marriage to Janet Nelson.}
Samuel Morrow married Janet Nelson (1760-1849) in Chester District, SC, on Dec. 27, 1781 (The Morrow Cousins by Ophelia Phillips, 1972) and for birthdates, The Morrows, and Related Families, 1640-1978 by Morrow, J.T., pp. 63-65 & 110 (libraries only). Also available online at FamilySearch.org.

Major Samuel Morrow (1760-1842) is listed as "Samuel Morrow, Jr." as Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot #A081383, per the DAR's Genealogy Research System.
Samuel Morrow 1760-1842 emancipated his slave Polly in Spartanburg District, SC, in 1793; transcriptions online show that his nephew, Samuel Morrow emancipated Polly's son George in 1821. Both deeds are recorded in Greene Co., Ala.

Will of SAMUEL MORROW
In the name of God amen. I Samuel Morrow of Dutchman Creek South Carolina Spartanburg District Farmer. Being in a low state of health but of sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent and Christian order at the discretion of my executors and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life. I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
1st – my just debts to be paid.
2nd – that my dearly beloved wife Jennet Morrow is to have her choice of the Blacks one to wait on her during her life and
3rd – that the seven other young blacks to be appraised and to be equally divided among my children except Samuel Morrow Jr. which has already had one and Mary Smith is to have Riley at the appraisement and it is my wish that Catherine Charles and Ruth if any of the Legatees living here will take them for their labor and they be in subjection to them and if the said legatees cannot arrange them in that way to have them apprised and sold and the money equally divided among them but if possible to have them so fixed that they shall not come to suffer in their old age.
I further wish that all my property should be exposed to sale in the common form and the monies arising from said sale after my just debts are paid to be equally divided among my children except as in hereafter excepted that there should be a compensation of twenty-five dollars to my niece Nancy Morrow for attending on me in my last sickness and a reasonable compensation to the others to be made to those who may attend on me and further wish my grandson Samuel M Smith to have my small shotgun and I further will and bequeath to David Morrow my son and son in law Henry M. Story two tracts of land of two hundred acres each lying in the state of Kentucky Livingston County to dispose of as they think fit and the profits to be equally divided between them. Originally granted one to James Campbell and the other to Jno Clarke and I do hereby nominate and appoint my worthy friend Elihu P. Smith my sole executor to execute this my last will and testament given under my hand and seal this 8th day of February 1842.

Be it known to all men by these presents that I Samuel Morrow Senr of Dutchman Creek South Carolina Spartanburg Dist on the eight day of Feb eighteen hundred and forty-two do by this present codicil do ratify and confirm my said last will and testament do further give and bequeath unto my wife a bureau and all necessary furniture for her as she may think fit and my will and meaning is that this codicil be adjudged to be a part and parcel of my last will and testament and everything there mentioned fully and amply in every respect be regarded as though they were mentioned and set down in my will and testament witness my hand and seal this eight day of Febr 1842 and ten dollars to my estate to go to foreign missionary purposes.

I Sam.l Morrow was born in the State of Mereland near the Citey of Baltimore, March the 19th 1760 And my Wife Janat born in the County of Down in Ireland in the year 1760 hir maden name was Nelson And Mared December the 27th 1781 and Joined the fishing- Creek Church under the care of the Revd John Simson in the fall of 1782—My Parents brought me into Chester District S.C. when not over five years of age, and there I was Mared—and my Wife came into America in 1772 And my first revelution servesis comenced on april the first 1776 1776—and from Charlston was tacken with the britt army till my Servesis was not needed I mite say the army was my home I did Som regular Service after marag [marriage].
