~MY PECK ANCESTOR~

Samuel Peck was the son of LIEUT. JOSEPH & MARY (CAMP) PECK and grandson of JOSEPH & ALICE (HEATH) BURWELL-PECK. He married MARTHA CLARK, daughter of ENSIGN GEORGE (Jr.) & DEBORAH (GOLD) CLARK, on 5 May 1714 in Milford, New Haven Co., Conn. They were the parents of eight known children including my ancestor, NATHAN PECK. Other children: Capt. Samuel Peck

He was Justice of the Peace in Milford and for several years, he was a deputy representing Milford at the General Court in Hartford.

In Feb. 8, 1702/3 Ens. Joseph Peck's name appears on an "Indian deed to the proprietors of New Milford", as part of a committee of seven men who purchased the land. As part of a committee of three, he met with the Stratford men who claimed part of New Milford. Three Stratford men sued Capt. Samuel Eells, Joseph Treat, and Ens. Joseph Peck for trespassing and won.

His tombstone was recut in 1943.

Samuel Peck, son of Lt. Joseph Peck and Mary Camp, was born in Milford, New Haven Co., Conn. He married with MARTHA CLARK, dau of Ensign George Clark and Deborah Gold. She was born 1694. He died Apr. 29, 1728 in Milford, Conn. and is buried at Milford Cemetery, Milford, New Haven Co. After Samuel's death she married JAMES BOOTH. ., she is buried at the Old Congregational Burying Ground, Stratford, Fairfield Co., Connecticut.

Samuel and Martha were the parents of eight known children. He was Justice of the Peace in Milford and for several years, he was a deputy representing Milford at the General Court in Hartford.

Children were: Mary Peck (1718-1804, m. Benjamin Fenn), Job Peck (1720-1782), and Nathan (1727).
