Martin Poling's Will, Will Book 1, p 78-80: "I Martin Poling of Randolph County do hereby make my last wil and testament in the manner as followeth that is to say. First I give to my daughter Elizabeth all my movable property and household furniture and fifty acres of land the land which she now lives on to be hers and her heirs forever.

2. dl I give to my Son Samuel Poling fifty acres of land where he now lives on to be his and his heirs forever."

Bio: Richard Poling moved to Allegany County, Maryland, sometime between 1782 and 1787 as he is listed as living west of Fort Cumberland in 1787. -W. H. Lowdermilk, History of Cumberland, P. 264-5.

He did not record the deed to his property until 1802, Deed Book C 559. He sold the land in 1805 to Samuel and Margaret Black Poling. Deed Book D 460. His wife Sophia signed her dower right. Richard Poling appeared in the tax list of Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1806.

age 97 (1767) as the daughter of D and C BLACK. Cause of death is shown as

fever.

Will on file dated 7/23/1840, on LDS film #808234. Also listed in Tatterson,

pages 237-238. 'Randolph County Wills' lists wife Margaret, sons John, Martin,

William, Daniel, and Samuel POLING as well as daughters Elizabeth (wife of

Jacob KELLER), Sarah (wife of Jacob BOLYARD), Poly (wife of Martin D KITTLE),

as well as grandchildren Jefferson and Harrison (Tatterson lists as Hennson,

but Harrison is believed to be correct) PHILLIPS (sons of Benjamin PHILLIPS).

Birth and marriage dates from Tatterson pages 238-239. Tatterson also lists

Margaret, Rachael, Nancy, Benjamin and David BLACK as children, however it

appears only Nancy (wife of Benjamin PHILLIPS) should be included based on the

1840 will. Tatterson, page 38, lists Margaret BLACK as the daughter of Daniel

BLACK. Benjamin POLING (#3585) listed as a child of Samuel M and Margaret

BLACK even though not listed in the will.
