About Samuel Scarburgh, Esq.

Samuel Scarburgh was born in North Walsham, County Norfolk, England. He migrated from England to America sometime around 1620.

Samuel apparently returned to England prior to his death. Per "The Scarburgh Family of the Eastern Shore" by M. K. Miles (September 2002): he references the work by Jennings Cropper Wise, VA Historical Society, "Col. John Wise, His Ancestors and Descendants," Bell Book & Stationary Co;, Richmond, VA, 1918:

"Samuel died 20 Apr 1655 in North Walsham, Co Norfolk, England, at 61 years of age. His body was interred in North Walsham, Co Norfolk, England. He attended school in North Walsham. He was admitted to Caius College, Cambridge, England on 3 Nov 1610 and received a B.A. in 1614. He was admitted at Lincoln's Inn in 1614. There is a monument in the church at North Walsham where he is buried."

Sizable bequests also go to John, Samuel's sister Mary Stanton (wife of Samuel Stanton of Suffolk) and/or her children, and various friends and neighbors.
