Telegraphic. By Speed's Lines. FOR THE DAILY REGISTER.
NEW YORK, March 7.
Letters received here yesterday state that Samuel S. Howland, senior partner of the firm of Howland & Aspinwall, died at Rome on the 8th ult. - Mr. Howland had long been one of the leading merchants of the city, and was highly respected by his fellow citizens. He left this city a few weeks since for Europe, in hopes that the sea voyage and tour to Italy would benefit his impaired constitution.
