2. SAMUEL2 STANLEY (MATTHEW1) was born Abt. 1656 in Topsfield, Essex, MA (Lynn Essex Co MA), and died August 17, 1724 in (Attelboro, Bristol Co, MA). He married JOANNA UNKNOWN Abt. 1676 in Topsfield, Essex Co, MA. She was born Abt. 1658, and died March 15, 1728/29 in Attelboro, Bristol Co, MA.
In February 1714/5 Sergeant Samuel Stanley was granted a plot of land in the common area of Topsfield, Massachusetts, as the heir of Mathew Stanley.[1]
The Robinson Cemetery is so named because the oldest surviving tombstone is that of a Robinson but the actual grounds were the original burial grounds of the Stanleys of Attleboro who donated the land through William Stanley (son of Thomas) in 1775.Samuel was the town clerk and schoolmaster of Topsfield before he retired and moved to Attleboro to live amongst some of his children.
