• i. Dea. Francis West, b. Dec. 13, 1669, d. testate May 12, 1731 at Tolland, Conn., Æ 62; m. Dec. 20, 1696 at Stonington, Conn., Mercy Minor, dau. of Dr. Joseph Minor and Mary Avery, b. Aug. 21, 1673 at Stonington, Conn. She d. at Tolland, Conn. Sept. 6, 1751, Æ 79. Seven children of the family.

• ii. Stephen West, b. Sept. 8, 1671; d. as an infant Dec. 29, 1671.

• iii. Samuel West, Jr., b. Dec. 23, 1672, d. circa 1763 at Lebanon, Conn.; m. June 20, 1709 at Duxbury, Martha Simmons, wid. of Ebenzer Delano, and dau. of John Simmons & Mercy Pabodie, b. Nov. 17, 1677 at Duxbury. She d. Dec. 10, 1754 at Lebanon, Conn., Æ 78. Four children of the family. Martha had three children by her 1st husband.

• iv. Pelatiah West, b. Mar. 8, 1673/4, d. Dec. 7, 1756 at Duxbury, Æ 83; m. Elizabeth CHandler at Duxbury July 12, 1722.

• v. Hon. Ebenezer West, b. July 23, 1676, d. Oct. 31, 1758 at Lebanon, Conn., Æ 83; m. Jan 14, 1712/3 at Lebanon, Susanna Wales, dau. of Dea. Nathaniel Wales & Susanna Blake, bapt. Mar. 6, 1691/2 at Milton, Mass. She d. Oct. 14, 1723 at Lebanon, Conn., Æ 32. Ebenezer never remarried. Seven children of the family.

• vi. John West, b. Mar. 6, 1678/9, d. Nov. 17, 1741 at Lebanon, Conn., Æ 63; m. an unidentified Deborah and had seven children.

• vii. Abigail West, b. Sept. 16, 1682; m. Aug 4, 1714 at Duxbury to Nathaniel Cole, s. of Nathaniel & Sarah Cole, b. Oct. 11, 1685. He d. June 9, 1774 at Plymouth, Mass. There is no record of children and when and where Abigail died is unknown to the memorialist.

Samuel, son of Francis West, was born in 1643, died May 8, 1689, aged forty-six years. He lived in Duxbury, Massachusetts, where he was constable in 1674. He married, September 26, 1668, Tryphosa, daughter of George and Sarah (Tracy) Partridge, of Duxbury. Children, born in Duxbury: Francis, November 13, 1669; Juen, September 6, 1671, died young; Samuel, December 23, 1672; Peletiah, March 8, 1674; Hon. Ebenezer, July 22, 1676; John, March 6, 1679; Abigail, September 26, 1682, married Nathaniel Cole; Bathsheba, mentioned in the Zebulon West manuscript.   • (III) Samuel (2) West, son of 'Samuel (I) and Tryphosa (Partridge) West', was born December 23, 1672, and died about 1763. He lived in Duxbury, and after 1723 in Lebanon, Connecticut, and was one of the organizers, in 1730, of the Goshen Church of Lebanon. He married, June 30, 1709, Martha Delano, daughter of John and Mercy (Peabody) Simmons, and widow of Ebenezer Delano. Her grandmother, Elizabeth (Alden) Peabody, was the daughter of John and Priscilla (Mullins) Alden, of the "Mayflower." Issue of Samuel (2) and Martha West: Amos, born May 29, 1710; Nathan, of whom further; Sarah, born November 8, 1712; Moses, born March 4, 1716. .....

  • (I) Francis West, immigrant ancestor, was a resident of Salisbury, England, prior to his emigration to this country, and his first place of residence here was in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He was a carpenter by trade, which line of work he followed as a means of livelihood. In 1642 he was a member of the Grand Jury, a freeman of Plymouth Colony, 1656, a surveyor in 1658, and a constable in 1661. He married, in 1639, Margery Reeves, who bore him five children : Samuel, of further mention ; Thomas, a physician ; Peter ; Mary ; Ruth. Francis West died January 2, 1692, aged eighty-six years.
  • ' (II) Samuel West, eldest son of Francis and Margery (Reeves) West, was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in 1643, and died in 1689, at the early age of forty-six years. He was a man of prominence in the community, and was chosen to serve as constable in 1674. He married Tryphosa Partridge, daughter of George and Sarah (Tracy) Partridge, of Duxbury. They were the parents of eight children, among whom was Francis (2), of further mention.
  • (III) Francis (2) West, son of Samuel and Tryphosa (Partridge) West, was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, November 13, 1669, and died in Tolland, Connecticut, in 1731. In early life he removed to Preston, Connecticut, and from there to Stonington, Connecticut, joining the church in the latter named town from the church in Preston in the year 1702. From Stonington he removed to Tolland, Connecticut, about the year 1720, and there served as deacon of the church, and as selectman. He married, in 1696, Mercy Minor, daughter of Captain Joseph and Mary (Avery) Minor, of Stonington, Connecticut. They were the parents of seven children, among whom was Samuel, of further mention.

  • Nathaniel W. was descended from Francis West of Salisbury, Eng., who was invited to America by a Mr. Thomas of Marshfield, and m. Margery Reeves. They settled in Duxbury, and had 5 children, viz : 'Samuel', Thomas, Peter, Mary, and Ruth. Mr. W. died about 1694, aged 86. 'Samuel m. Tryphosa Partridge, and had 7 children', — Francis, (to be again mentioned ;) Samuel, a poet, b. in 1673, and who lived to be over 90 ; Pelatiah, Ebenezer, John, Abigail, and Bathsheba. Francis m. Mercy Mina, and was one of the early settlers of Tolland, and the first deacon of that church, died. May 12, 1731, aged 62. His children were Samuel, m. Nov. 4, 1724, to Sarah Delano, and Nov. 26, 1754, to Abigail Lathrop, died Feb. 3, 1779 ; Joseph, m. May 19, 1725, died Jan. 27, 1764, aged 62 ; Amasa, m. A. Hatch in 1730 ; Zebulon, of whom we must again speak ; Christopher, who m. Amy Delano, Oct. 25, 1732, and was one of the early settlers of Lee, Mass ; Pelatiah, ditto ; and Mercy. Mr. W. removed to T. in 1720, from Stonington.
