Obituary Guest Book 2 entries "My heartfelt sympathy to the family of Sandy Sigoloff. I..." The Guest Book is expired. Restore the Guest Book

SIGOLOFF, Sanford C. Devoted and adoring husband to Betty for 58 years passed away peacefully on February 19, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

Sandy was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 8, 1930 and there unknowingly attended nursery school with his future life partner Betty. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School a year after his family moved to Los Angeles. After graduating from UCLA with degrees in physics and chemistry, Betty and Sandy were married.

Sandy's scientific mind led to his work for the Atomic Energy Commission, research laboratories for the US Air Force as a First Lieutenant, and EG&G in Santa Barbara. Sandy's business acumen then led him to corporate management. He quickly became the youngest group president of Xerox. He went on to leadership positions of numerous companies and was lauded as a top restructuring professional for his corporate turnarounds in some of the largest Chapter 11 bankruptcies in US history.

Sandy's generosity was renowned - his philanthropy included gifts of both time and resources to the UJF, American Jewish Committee, City of Hope, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Center Theatre Group, and the US Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. He gave his time as an adjunct full professor at UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management, and his passion for education led to his appointment to the California State Board of Education. He was also a mentor to many young people. His wisdom and trusted advice earned him directorships on the boards of public companies in the US and Britain.

Sandy's love and intellectual passions guided his pursuits and hobbies and led to his tremendous success. However, his family meant more than anything else in the world to him. He will be forever remembered by his children Stephen (Dana) Sigoloff, John (Anne) Sigoloff, and Laurie (Todd) Doyle; his grandchildren Alex, Erin, Stephanie, Brian, Benjamin and Daniel; sister Roberta (Hillel) Silverman, and his nephew David Smotrich, and nieces Deborah Diamond and Arona Smotrich. Sandy's family is extremely grateful for the care and support of his caregivers Ellie Ramclam, and Cecelia and Jun Bautista.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Wilshire Boulevard Temple, 3663 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90010.

Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association California Southland Chapter or Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services in Los Angeles.
