About Sara Riwka Karmit Temkin (Weinberg)

Sara was born in Suchovola (near Bialistok) to Hassidic parents, Yaakov Naftali Weinberg and her mother Shosha, who gave birth to twelve children and supported her husband (who attended Beit Midrash), and her large family by working in a fabric store.

When Sara was 16 years old, she was already highly active in Zionist circles, and in 1905, at 17, she left home and homeland (she was a member of the "Aliya Shniya") and arrived in Jaffa, driven by her socialist Zionist ideals.
