Joseph Allen, Sr. is Macdonald's #18 (page 11) where he is listed with his siblings as a son of Ralph Allen and Susannah. Looking at the entire Macdonald file for Ralph Allen (our Ralph 'Wheelright' Allen) we see 3 matters, 2 confirmations

1. Macdonald confirms that Ralph Allen and Susannah are the parents of Joseph Allen, Sr. (1642-1704)

2. Macdonald confirms that Joseph Allen, Sr.'s 2 wives were

(Marriage #1 in 1662) Sarah Holloway, daughter of Rose Allen/Holloway/Newland - marriage in July, 1662 when Joseph was about age twenty. Joseph and Sarah were cousins, both grandchildren of George Allen, Sr. of Sandwich;

(Marriage #2) in 1680 to Sarah (born Hull) Ridley, widow of Mark Ridley. Joseph was age 38 at the time of his marriage to Sarah.

There is potential confusion between Joseph's 2 wives since both had the first name "Sarah".

3. Macdonald is very clear that Joseph had 14 children, 7 by his first wife Sarah Holloway and 7 by his second wife Sarah Ridley.

Josiah (b. ca 1675) was the 7th and last child of his first wife. Joseph's next child Benjamin (b. c1680) was the first of 7 children by his second wife.

Macdonal lists Hannah before Daniel, although the birthdates of neither are provided.
