About Sarah Blount
Sarah DuRant (1718-1751), formerly thought to be Great-Great Granddaughter of George Durant (1631-1693), believed to be the first permanent English settler in North Carolina, and sometimes credited as being the "father of North Carolina". Instead she was a recorded child of John DuRant and his wife Sarah Jooke(New Sweeden Yakut Force Laborer) (John Durant was son of George Durant, the elder of the Yeopim Rez Family). There were 5 children by this marriage: Mary married Christian Reed, her twin sister, Sarah, married Joseph Bount; Elizabeth married 1st Joseph Reen, 2nd Thomas Jacobs; Ann Married Thomas Corpre; George who died in his youth. The 2 twin sisters sleep in the Blount-Littlejohn graveyard on Cheshire's Hill in the town of Edenton, NC.
