Sarah S. Osborn was born the February 21, 1828, a daughter of Quaker parents, Charles and Hannah (Swain) Osborn. She married 3 Sep 1848 James Bonine. She died 13 Oct 1885. She was the mother of twelve known children: Laura E., Evangeline, Charles J., James Clarence, Justice Hall, William Marion, George Walter, Edward Claire, Orion Ray, Herman O., Chester Herbert, and Bertha Hannah, at least five of whom died in childhood.

She was born in Clinton County, Ohio, February 2, 1828. Came to Cass County, Mich., with her parents, Charles and Hannah Osborn, in 1843, and was married to James B. Bonine in 1848.
