Sarah Colquitt was a daughter of Henry and Nancy (Thorpe) Bunn, and her siblings were Marcus Henry, Hugh Lawson, William, Thaddeus, Henry, Jr., Judson, Portia, Harriet (married Gen. Henry Tarver), and Martha. Sarah's first husband was Frederick Tarver, who died soon after they were married. With her second husband, Alfred Holt Colquitt, she had two children, Walter T. Colquitt and Elizabeth Hill Colquitt (married Major William Louis Marshall).
