Sarah's maiden name of Titus comes from Grant Book 8, pg 178, dated 1743-1793, in Nansemond county, Virginia, where several transactions involving James Howard are recorded, one being that he has married the daughter of Thomas Titus.
James Howard and his wife Sarah had formerly lived in Nansemond Co. Virginia. His brothers, mentioned in the will: John, Edward, Stephen, Joseph Howard all evidently living in Bertie Precinct NC at the date of will.
James Howard's widow, Sarah remarried after his death to Thomas CREA in 1744.
Children of James Howard and Sarah Titus: 1. James Howard. Born in 1707 in Bertie Co, NC d. 1790 Bertie Co., NC. James and Edward went to Onslow Co. after the death of their father, about 1741 or 1742. 2. Sarah Howard. She was under 18 years at date of the will of her father in 1729, so she was apparenlty born after 1711. 3. Edward Howard. Married Mary. He was a Justice of Peace in Onslow Co., NC in 1739. James and Edward went to Onslow Co. after the death of their father. 4. Samuel Howard. [F246]. 5. John Howard. Born in 1718 in Nansemond Co, VA. Married Frances Denson. John Howard also went to Onslow and settled on the "Blew Creek area". He was a JP in Onslow Co. from 1739-1751. He died in 1772 in Bute Co., NC. Had the following children: a). James Howard of Fredericks Creek, Hampstead area b). John Howard. c). Josiah Howard. d). Bartholomew Howard. 6. Solomon Howard. Solomon inherited the land in Bertie County, property on Cooneriscritt and Ahorsky Swamps area, today called Ahoskie N.C.
